Tactical Striker – Storm Sorcerer

This is related to an earlier post about the Mark of Storm.  This is a character build off of that intended to maximize Damage and still hold a tactical advantage.

System: DnD 4.0
Class: Sorcerer
Level Requirement: 1 (I used 7 to flesh out the character)
Books Required: Players Handbook 2 , Arcane Power, Eberron Players Guide
Build Requirements:  Feat – Mark of Storm, Thunder/Lightning Sorcerer Powers
Example Character Sheet: Tzzird the Storm Sorcerer

The main build of this character is the Tactical advantage of Shifting targets with your spells.  Mark of Storm is the main ingredient for this use but it also has a nifty help of giving +1 flying speed.  Normally this seems useless for most players but the Sorcerer has a few Encounter Powers that let them fly.  You can then use your attacks to hit for damage, then move the target where you want them.  The alternate way of using this is the Delayed Action.  The condition is:  When an enemy moves within x squares of me, use y Power.  This allows you to hit an enemy as they Move at you with a Lightning or Thunder power.  Allowing you to then Shift the target one square away from you, thier Move action already expended.  Unless they have a ranged attack, they can’t touch you.

Considerations for this move:

Attacks of opportunity if you use a ranged attack next to a Close enemy (resolved by my char’s Shimmering Cloth armor).  If multiple targets move at you (only the first one will get hit, though you can limit yourself by specifying the bigger baddie for your Condition).  If no targets move at you (you just wasted a Standard Action by doing nothing)

Other things of note for this character, the use of Dual Implement and Implement Proficiency (wand) feets.  This lets me not only increases my damage, but gives a lot more options for using Implements as seen by the 3 I gave my character.  The passive abilities of the implements in each hand do impact the spells as both are used in it’s casting.  I added a modified Wand the DM ok’d for me.  Lightning Wand – As Thunder Wand (AV 111) but the +1 damage bonus goes to Lightning spells and the Encounter Power is the Wizards At-Will Power Storm Pillar.
