While five people is the ‘perfect’ group number, that doesn’t always happen. Just in case there is that sixth person or you want to play something different, here is another option for you.
System: DnD 4.0
Class: Rogue
Level of Build: 7
Books Required: Players Handbook, Monster Manual, Eberron Player’s Guide
Build Requirements: Racial – Shifty, Feat – Mark of Passage
Example Character Sheet: Boots the Disregardable
The combination between the Shifty at will power that Kobalds get along with the Mark of Passage lets you Shift 2 with just a minor action. This is highly useful before the feat, now makes a great tool to escape or just flank an enemy. The rogue is made more to come in late to a fight. Having snuck around the battlefield to hit where not expected.
Filling out the group a bit more on the skills end, the character is good use both in and out of battles. The utility powers and items make good use of those skills in battle as much as out. Between stealing an item with the Dagger of Thievery or moving to hide behind all the enemies without being seen at all. Even caught, the abilities are geared to keeping Combat Advantage to get as much Sneak Attack in as possible.
Background: He had been captured by the 5-man group trying to steal from them. He was found more useful than troublesome as the adventure progressed. Though it was a fine line he worked in order to acquire more goods while working for the group.
Quotes:
Boots “It wasn’t me this time, I swear!” Sophia “Says the one with Wizard’s gloves, I know you poked me…”
“Ahhhh the angry kitty is after me!”
